2022 Race Day Logistics

JJTrail Runners, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Community Members,

In order to make race morning go as smoothly as possible, we have put together some logistics notes below.

  • Race Date: Sunday, April 3
  • Start Time: 9am – arrive at least 45 minutes before start time to get set up.
  • Address: 40 North Salem Road, Cross River, NY (John Jay Middle School Entrance)

If you are pre-registered for the race, walk, or dash, thank you!

If you are not yet registered but want to run — please sign up ASAP here:

If you are planning to come to the TRAIL GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION on Saturday April 2 from 4-6pm (it is FREE and there is no running required!), please RSVP HERE.

We will have bib pickup on race morning starting at 7am. Race and walk start location is behind the John Jay Middle School. Parking is abundant on Sunday morning at the school campus.

The race ends at the John Jay Contest Field track — so you may want to park closer to the track when you arrive (The Upper Parking Lot) and walk down the hill to the middle school.

The Kids Jay Dash starts after the 5k and 4k finishers have cleared the course. It takes place on the JJ Contest Track & Field. Start time is approximately 10am but may be a bit delayed.

The best way to the JJMS field is to turn left when you reach the school entrance area and head down the walkway to the field below. You will see us under the tent on the JJMS field.

The entrance to the JJ Campus is off of Route 121 (North Salem Road).

The map location of the middle school driveway entrance is here: https://goo.gl/maps/Q5xwUQnugFL2.

Note: There is more than enough parking at other lots in the school campus in case the upper lot fills up. There are other lots that are closer to the start of the race in case you are running late. See map above.

Race Starts at 9am on Sunday, April 3rd. Please plan to arrive before 8:15am on race day. This will allow you to get parked and walk down the hill to the back of the John Jay Middle School where the registration and start area are located. Once you are at the start area you can pick up your bib, get it pinned on, and get yourself familiar with the area.

If you are unfamiliar with John Jay School Campus, plan on arriving a bit earlier to get your bearings and get set up to run.

IMPORTANT: There are NO DOGS ALLOWED on school property. Please leave Fido at home for this race.

Port-o-sans will be located on the north side of the middle school in the utility lot (see aerial photo above). Get there early to avoid lines.

We plan to welcome runners and get things started as close to 9AM as possible on race day.

The 4K Jay Walk will start as soon as the 5k runners have looped and are clear of the starting field.

Athlete updates are available via ChronoTrack – click green “Start Setup” button below.

Post-race awards will start around one hour after the 5k race starts.

Your help and consideration is appreciated in getting to the start line promptly! The weather for Sunday is looking a bit soggy. Bring a change of shoes – the trail is wet from the spring rains we have been getting.

Results will be posted live here: https://www.jjtrail.org/about/2022-results/

Check the course map here https://www.jjtrail.org/map/. If you are a runner or walker this map will be helpful. If you are a spectator, this will show you where to cheer on your runner or walker! The course is different than in 2018 and 2019 so pay attention to the course markings. It is very similar to the course we ran in June 2021 if you did the race last year.

Thank you & see you at the race, walk, and dash!

–The JJ5K Trail Race Committee

PS: we are still raising money to complete the trail – we are around $800 shy of our spring fundraising goal. Donate here: https://runsignup.com/jjtrail/donate. Thank you for your past support of the trail building effort, we could not have done all that we’ve accomplished without our donors and volunteers. When you are running the course you will be amazed by the incredible work that a donor-supported and volunteer-only effort can achieve.
