JJTrail Race Returns June 13

Dear JJTrail Runners, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Supporters,

The JJTrail Race is back!

We have received approval from the Katonah-Lewisboro School District to hold the John Jay Community Trail Race on Sunday, June 13 at 9am.

Visit https://runsignup.com/jjtrail for information and signup.

The event is limited to 150 runners. IMPORTANT: We already have 100 runners registered, so sign up ASAP if you are interested in running. We anticipate the remaining 50 spots will go quickly. We can have spectators too — and with 5k of the course to cover there is plenty of room to spread out and cheer.

Many of you opted to keep your 2020 entries in anticipation of the race being rescheduled. Many of our sponsors opted to stick with their sponsorship in anticipation of the race happening – thank you! If you are interested in a sponsorship for 2021 please reach out jjtrailrace@gmail.com for more information.

If you are registered for the JJTrail 5k Run or 4k Walk, you have three options:

  1. Stay in and run or walk on June 13 (yay! this is the default if we don’t hear from you we assume you plan to run)
  2. Ask us to issue you a no questions asked refund (hope to see you next year!)
  3. Donate your entry fee and give up your spot so another runner can sign up and run (please email us at jjtrailrace@gmail.com if you are picking this choice. Thank you!)

If you are not sure if you are signed up already, you can look up your entry here: https://runsignup.com/Race/RegistrationLookup/?raceId=58423

When we postponed the race on March 18, 2020 no one imagined it would be 14 months until the race reschedule.

We unfortunately have to cancel the Kids Jay Dash for 2021 but it will be back for 2022 for sure. Anyone who registered for that event in 2020 will get an automatic refund unless you reach out before 5/16 and let us know you’d like to donate your 2020 entry fee.

Kids who are interested in participating with the event are encouraged to volunteer. Or the 5k is open to all ages! We can always use course marshals and pre-race trail cleanup and prep! Check our volunteer signup form at the registration site.

There will be other changes to the race day including no same day registration and no awards ceremony.

We are also in the final push to complete “The Final Link” boardwalk and trail. JJTrail donations are once again open as we purchase additional needed lumber and encounter sticker shock over the lumber prices!

More information to follow — thanks again to our runners, our committee members, and our trail building volunteers!

–The JJTRAIL Race Committee

PS: The JJTrail race is organized by the John Jay Boosters Club which supports athletic programs and facilities at John Jay. The race and trail building effort is headed by the JJTrail Race Committee made up of students and parents from the John Jay Cross Country, John Jay Track & Field Teams, and Community Members.
