Volunteer Early. Volunteer Often. Vote JJTRAIL!

We are working this week, this weekend, and Election Day!

Dear JJTrail Supporters,

Our sights are set on completing the foundations for the Championship Bridge. If you can come out during this week, this weekend, and Election Day next Tuesday (school is closed!) we can get a lot done.

Email us at jjtrailrace@gmail.com if you want to get detailed dates and times to meet. Going forward our meeting spot is the JJMS field — head down to the Championship Bridge location if you arrive after the meetup time. (trail map here

No special skills are required, we will show you what needs to be done and put everyone to work in a safe and productive way. Any time you can come is appreciated.

This past week we finished the foundation excavations and are currently creating the piers for the championship bridge (our final big bridge). After those are done we will move the big beams into place — we will put out the call far and wide for that massive moving project. After then it will start looking like a span!

Huge THANKS goes out to all of our volunteers and donors who continue to show up and help move the project forward.

The best way to see the work and progress is to hike, walk, or run the trail. It is open to the community. JJTrail Map is here if you want to explore: https://jjtrail.org/map.

We are grateful for and always welcome your volunteer help on the weekends & holidays — and during the week if that works for you. We work to continuously push the project ahead.

“How can I help?” Email us at jjtrailrace@gmail.com to get on the “short email list” of JJTRAIL volunteers. We send more frequent updates to that list for volunteering dates and times. Those emails are a lot shorter than this one 😉

“How do I donate?” You can donate via our JJTrail donation link

Once again – THANK YOU!

See you on the trails…

PS:

FYI: the JJTRAIL project is led by community volunteers and includes members of the John Jay Cross Country Team, the John Jay Track & Field Team, KLSD student volunteers of all ages, KLSD teachers & staff, John Jay Coaches, and senior class interns. We could not have progressed as far as we have gotten without the fantastic support of the John Jay Boosters Club, the John Jay Athletic Department, KLSD Operations & Maintenance, the Town of Lewisboro, the Lewisboro Trails Committee, and the Katonah-Lewisboro School District Administration.

Donors: A big THANK YOU to our generous community donors! Donors will be recognized at the trail official opening and on the trails. Date of the “official opening” is TBD — but you will certainly hear about it!

We would like to finish the JJTrail project by the end of 2019 — and we are just over halfway to our Fall Finish Fundraiser goal of $4,000. We project this will allow us to complete the trails, bridges, boardwalks, trail markings, and signage. Any donations you can make are appreciated — and every amount gets us closer to the goal. The JJ Boosters Club is a 501(c)3 organization and gifts are generally tax deductible. Matching gifts are also welcome. Let us know if you need help getting a matching gift processed.

SPONSORS: Please visit our wonderful and generous SPONSORS. Our sponsors help underwrite the costs of the race and we couldn’t put it on without them!

If you are interested in becoming — or returning as — a sponsor for the 3rd Annual JJTrail Race on Sunday, April 19, 2020, please let us know at jjtrailrace@gmail.com. We will be having our largest event to date in 2020 — and the JJTrail Races will be the inaugural event for the completed trail system.

OUR 2019 RACE SPONSORS ARE LINKED HERE – PLEASE TELL THEM YOU APPRECIATE THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE RACE, WALK, & DASH!
