Registration is open and the John Jay 5k Community Trail Race is back for a THIRD year! Date is Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 9am.
You might be thinking it may seem a bit early to sign up for a race in April, but the reason for this note is twofold:
1.) If you sign up for the 4k/5k in September we have a John Jay Boosters Club + JJTRAILspecial deal… more info below!
2.) We are currently working to complete the course construction by the end of 2019. We have made HUGE strides towards this goal, but we need your help to get to the finish!
In addition to the 5k trail race, We are also offering a 4k “Jay Walk” and the 200 meter Kids Jay Dash for elementary school age kids. There is something for everyone!

The September deal: We are offering you a chance to sign up to be a supporter of the parent-run John Jay Boosters Club and register for the John Jay Trail Race or Walk at the same time.
If you sign up as a Booster Member in September – which is the best time to sign up – your cost for registering for the 5k Trail Race or the 4k Jay Walk is 50% off the regular cost.
You must sign up for the membership and race/walk at the same time through the http://runsignup.com/jjtrail registration system during September 2019 for the offer to be available. You can always sign up for the race or walk solo anytime if Booster Club membership is not of interest.

Register and sign up for Boosters Club 2019-20 membership, cost is $50+$15=$65!
FYI: the JJTRAIL race day is put on by the John Jay Cross Country and John Jay Track & Field Teams under the umbrella and with the fantastic support of the John Jay Boosters Club. The JJ Boosters Club is the non-profit athletic support organization for the Katonah-Lewisboro School District.
Some details on the race, walk, and dash:
- The first 175 registrations for the 5k / 4k will get a race t-shirt
- The first 50 kids race registrations will get a kids t-shirt.
- Sign up early to get your name or nickname on your (or your child’s) race bib
- …. make sure you pick a shirt size when you sign up!

JJTRAIL Work Update:
Thanks to the support of community members, sponsors, and donors, we have made HUGE progress in the late spring and throughout the summer of 2019 on the John Jay Community Trail building effort.
If you ran the race in 2018 or 2019 you will not recognize the course with all of the improvements we have made! There are new sections to bridges, six completely new boardwalks, and many other trail improvements made in the past 4 months.
If you want a taste of what the trail volunteers have accomplished, the best way is to run, walk, or hike the trail which is open to the community!
If you can’t get out to the course, check http://instagram.com/jjtrail or the https://jjtrail.org main site for photos and video clips.
We also update the project progress here: https://jjtrail.org/projects with photos and video.
Direct links to the JJTRAIL project pages are here: Bridge 1 (Hackett’s Hollow), Bridge 2 (Page’s Passage), Carroll’s Causeway, Boardwalk 1 (Rose’s Rise), Boardwalk 2 (Winter’s Wipeout), Megaboardwalk, Boardwalk 5, Boardwalk 6. Frog Hollow Boardwalk, The Championship Bridge, and the Final Link Boardwalk(s).
We still have several significant projects ahead, with The Championship Bridge (Bridge #3) the biggest one left. The Causeway and the Final Link trail and boardwalk are also underway.
We are grateful for and always welcome your volunteer help on the weekends — and during the week if that works for you. We work continuously to push the project ahead. No special skills are required, we will show you what needs to be done and put you to work.
Our goal is to be finished with the entire project before the end of 2019. We can do that only with your help!
See you on the trails…
—The JJTrail Committee
PS: We can’t end the email without thanking our generous community donors! Donors will be recognized at the trail official opening and on the trails. Date of “official opening” is TBD but you will hear about it!
We are finishing the JJTrail projects this fall and we need to raise an additional $4,000 to complete the trails, bridges, boardwalks, trail markings, and signage for the end of 2019. Any donations you can make are appreciated and every amount gets us closer to the goal and is helpful to the effort. Matching gifts are also welcome. Let us know if you need help getting a matching gift processed.
DONATE HERE (you don’t need to register for the race to donate now)
PPS: Check out our wonderful and generous sponsors here. They help underwrite the costs of the race and we couldn’t put on the race without them! If you are interested in becoming — or returning as — a sponsor for 2020, please let us know at jjtrailrace@gmail.com.
